Laughter Yoga - Let Your Fool Out!
It's April Fool's Day and time to laugh!
Laughter is a naturally mindful exercise. When we laugh, stress, negativity, and anxiety dissipate. Only ten minutes of laughter provides physical and psychological benefits such as lowered blood pressure, reduced stress, and relaxation. But most of us don't laugh as much as we would like to, and when we do, we rely on others to provide humor. So how do we get these benefits of laughter without having to search for reasons to laugh? Laughter yoga.
Laughter yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological benefits as laughing spontaneously. Laughter yoga is done in groups, with eye contact, laughter exercises, and playfulness between participants. Forced laughter soon turns into real and contagious laughter.
In this session, we will start with gentle warm-up techniques including chanting, clapping, eye contact and body movement, to help break down inhibitions and encourage a sense of playfulness. Breathing exercises are used to prepare the lungs for laughter, followed by a series of laughter exercises that combine the method of acting and visualization techniques with playfulness.
